About André Brönnimann
Born of a Swiss father and English mother in Auckland, New Zealand in 1963, André spend the first 5 years of his life in New Zealand. His family returned to Switzerland where Andre completed his schooling.
André has always had a strong interest in art and is a self taught surrealist and photo realist.
His main influences have been Salvador Dali, Magritte, and Escher.
When André was 20, he returned to New Zealand.
André has been a late comer to the art scene. He completed his first serious work for the Auckland Telecom art competition in 1995. He entered the Telecom competition again for the Whanganui region. From there, he began painting in earnest.
André has won a number of awards and competitions locally and nationally both for his surrealist work and his photo realistic work.
André now lives in Whanganui, New Zealand, with his wife and three children.
