André was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1963.

His father was Swiss, his mother English.

At the age of 5, André and his family migrated back to Switzerland, where he was to live for the next 15 years.

André always had a keen interest in  art.

His main influences have been Salvador Dali, Magritte, and Escher.

When André was 20, he decided to return to New Zealand, as he was a citizen and knew nothing about the place.  After settling in and living here for a couple of years, André then spent 3 years in the USA studying.  One of the highlights of this was his visit to the Dali Museum in Florida.

André has been a late comer to the art scene.  He did his first  work for the Auckland Telecom competition in 1995.  And then nothing for another two years, when he entered the Telecom competition again for the Wanganui region.  From there, he did one painting each year, for the competition, until 2004, when he began painting in earnest.

He married in 1995, and has three children.
